Spring has sprung, summer is here. You have worked very hard on your garden. The flowers are so beautiful. You could look at them all day. But something is missing. How can you get closer to nature and "sit among the lilies" so to speak. It's time to invest in some garden furniture.
Careful thought into the look you are trying to achieve will help you make smart choices for your garden. Are the pieces you choose going to be simply for looks as you take a walk through the garden? Or, are you and the girls going to sit, gab and enjoy some afternoon tea? The answer to these questions should help you choose your pieces wisely and achieve the finishing touch you are looking for.
First, if you are looking for something to encourage your visitor to just look, and not really stay, consider a small cast iron bench and table set. You can get these in many colors and designs. You can paint them yourself to match the colors of your garden. Either way, they add a nice finished look to your garden. They are sturdy so you don't have to worry about them moving around. The tables often come with marble tops which also gives an elegant appeal to your garden. However, these type benches and seats have a tendency to be cold and lumpy, so they are really for looks and the occasional short sit, rest and look a little. This is great if you have friends who tend to overstay their welcome.
However, if a tea party is what you desire, there are other beautiful options available. One thing that adds much to the look of a garden is a gazebo. These come in all sizes and styles. You can have a permanent wood built one, or a decorative, foldable, metal and canvas one. Underneath this gazebo can be a wonderful set of cushioned chairs and matching table. Many of these garden sets come with optional cushions. This way you can choose the style and color to compliment your garden. They come in small sets, with two chairs and a table. They also come in larger sets with a larger table and more chairs. You can also find living room style setups. These come complete with couch, chair, side tables, and even a chaise lounge. If you prefer not to have a gazebo, an umbrella might just do the trick. Many tables are designed to be fitted with an outdoor umbrella.
So give some thought as to what you would like to achieve with your garden. Would you like your guests to walk through and admire your flowers, then be on their way? Would you like your friends to come sit and stay a while? Do you like to have a lot of friends at once, enjoying a nice meal in the cool summer evening breeze? Or, are you the kind of person who just want the girls over for tea and cakes?
The answer to these questions will help you narrow down what type of furniture items you should look for to finish your garden. Whatever you choose, make sure it compliments that beautiful green thumb of yours.
