Growing Miniature Roses - Choosing the Right Kind

As we all know, miniature roses are kinds of roses which is trained to stay mini or little. They come with smaller flowers and plants compared to the normal roses. But did you know that mini roses bloom more than normal roses? Now, that's really an additional bonus. Not only that, there are different types of miniature roses you can grow and if you want to start growing miniature roses, then here's for a head start.
1. Climbing miniature roses - Tiny roses that tend to grow vertically and are trained to grow on walls or against supports.
2. Trailer miniature roses - These are miniatures that have a flowing growth habit. These are great over walls and baskets.
3. Micro miniature roses - Mini roses are small roses but micro roses are the mini-est of all minis. These babies grow even tinier than the "normal" roses that are already miniature.
4. Miniflora - This kind of miniature rose is the newly grown miniature kind but they have larger blooms and plants. Almost the same size as the normal roses but still a little bit smaller.
How to plant
First, dig a hole. The hole should be a foot wider than that of the pot the roses came from. Then take the rose from the pot and try loosening the roots gently. If the plant is bounded really tight, you may use a knife to do the sides of the root ball. Then you may try loosening the roots one more time. You may put some organic stuff needed by the soil if necessary.
How to feed
In growing miniature roses, the correct process of feeding plays an important part for your roses to be healthy. This type of rose is most of the time heavy feeders, so fertilizing in a regular basis is very important. You should feed them whenever it leafs out, feed them every after the huge flush of bloom and remember to not feed them at about 7 weeks before the first frost.
How to water
When growing miniature roses, watering can be a little tricky because of their sizes. You should water the roses with at least 1 inch of water per week. If the season is hot and dry, you must water them more than the regular. The soil should be moist.
How to prune
Same as normal roses, pruning tiny roses should be done just before the start of new growth in early spring or at late winter. It is not recommended for you to do hard pruning. You should prune broken or dead wood first. After that, you should trim at least the third of the plant back to let the shape stay good and to push new growth.
The pests and diseases you might encounter
Mini roses are unfortunately also prone to experiencing the same problems as the normal roses do. With their size, it may prove to be a little more lethal. Make sure that you check for pests regularly and if you spotted even a few, you should take action immediately. If there are only few, you can pick them with your hands, but if the pests and diseases are severe you can go to experts and buy organic pesticides or ask anything that can cure the problem.
Growing miniature roses is really fun to do. Treat the roses right and you'll experience the greatest feeling when you see them grow according to what you have expected.
