After three to four weeks, you will see cracks around the area and a week after that, the first root and stem will start growing.
If you find these two methods too tedious, you can plant the seed directly. You do not have to learn the way on how to sprout an avocado seed. You simply bury it in a soil with the pointed part protruding from the soil. Keep the soil moist until you see the stem comes out. This method may take longer weeks but you get the same quality tree as with the first two methods.
If the seed fails to sprout in two months time, you need to begin with a new seed. When you see that the roots are well developed around two to three inches long, you can transfer the seedling in its permanent location.
Care and Maintenance
After transferring and knowing the techniques on how to sprout an avocado seed, you should begin to know the proper care. Since avocado requires generous water, always keep the soil moist but do not add too much water so as not to flood the area. Place the seedling in an area where it will receive indirect sunlight. Prune the tree regularly and fertilize every two weeks. The tree only begins to bear fruit after two or three years.
