So what exactly is a pre-assembled shed? This building is flat-packed item that consist of pre-fixed arrangements, such as side panels, doors, windows, floors and roofs, that only required to be unpacked and then fixed together. Usually a roll of felt will be supplied as well which will be attached at the end, or some suppliers with provide felt already attached to the roof sections, but be careful with this as this type of roof is prone to letting water in. The kits will come with everything that you need to install the building, such as the screws and nail bag as well as instructions. The only think that the build will require from you, apart from a bit of elbow grease, is basic and everyday tools, such as a hammer and screwdriver. These types of buildings only require a small degree of D.I.Y expertise as almost anyone can install them. However, it is not recommended that you build it on your own but in a team of at least two people.
There is a wide variety of flat-packed and pre-assembled garden sheds for sale and that come in a range of different shapes and sizes, so there should be something to suit your needs and to match your budget. These types of sheds do not come with foundations and are not fixed into the ground. Instead they have been made with strong and sturdy timber so that the building will stand rigid against heavy wind. Furthermore, some of these buildings have been treated against weathering and rot.
As with any shed you will require a base for the building before you erect it. It is best to create a flat, firm and level base that will be strong enough to support the shed and slightly larger than the shed footprint so that the water can drain and the building does not overhang. Furthermore, it is imperative that the base is level as if not, over time the shed with sag and this could lead to more serious problems such as warping and panels splitting. An ideal base would be constructed with concrete, paving stones or pressure treated timber, as long as it is not exposed to moist ground. In addition to this, most manufacturers now offer what they label as a 'portabase', which is a pressure treated frame kit that you can buy, build and then erect your shed onto, saving you time and maybe additional cost on building a base.
The great benefit of a preassembled shed is that it can be easily dismantled if you decided to move home or remove it from your allotment. However, you may lose the felt in the process as this will have to be take off the shed, but it will be a simple case of purchasing some new felt for when you erect the building again.
Another benefit of a preassembled shed is that most of the buildings are modular and it is possible to arrange the components around to suit your need. For example, if a shed comes with windows on the left it is possible to move them around to the right side and is often your choice on erection. The golden rule is that if the panels are exactly the same sizes then you should be able to rearrange the panels. A warning though that this is usually specified by the manufacturer and always contact the manufacture just to ensure that this is the case.
There is a wide variety of preassembled garden sheds for sale online, so if you are looking for a quick solution to your storage problem and on a budget then look for the buildings that are ready for your to install.
