Having a tulips bouquet in the house is the perfect pop of color and scent that will bring a smile on anyone's face. Because they bloom in mid to late spring, tulips are great for holding on to a season that symbolizes rebirth, but also for reminding the world that warmer times are yet to come, as it dives into the hot summer. However, tulips carry much more meaning than that. For example, multicolor ones are a compliment to one's eyes, and therefore, to their soul. Yellow ones represent happiness, and white ones, innocence. The list goes on and on, but there is one meaning that seems to be everyone's favorite.
These flowers are said to be the ultimate declaration of love, and have a Turkish legend to support the claim. It is said that when a Turkish prince found out that the girl he loved died, he committed suicide, as he could no longer bear to live without her. After his death, the place where he lay was covered in red tulips, for one grew from each drop of his blood.
So, if you wish to give someone a tulips bouquet as a gift, pay very close attention to the meaning they imply, as that might prove to be crucial. When selecting the bouquet, ask the florist about what each color symbolizes, and then if you wish, add a variety of them in.
If you'd like to arrange a tulips bouquet by yourself, there are some things you need to keep in mind. Firstly, if you buy them packaged, then don't take them out; rather, keep them like that overnight, so they will be straight when you arrange them. If, on the other hand, they were not packaged, then take some paper, drain it carefully in water and wrap it around your flowers.
Make sure that you are taking the leaves out, or else you might end up with a bouquet of leaves that has some flowers sprinkled in here and there. Unless that's what you are going for, pull them out. If you wish, you can keep some in, as they will add fullness to the bouquet.
Another thing you have to remember is that tulips are quite unique, because they have the rare ability of growing after they were cut. Therefore, it will be a great idea to cut them just a bit shorter than you would normally, because that way you won't end up with stems that seem to never end.
When you have finished selecting the flowers, bring them closely together, and cut any stems that are not aligned. Be very gentle while tying them together, because they are very frail and may snap easily. Using raffia is a very good idea, because it is not harsh.
Finally, enjoy it! Whether you're giving it away or not keep in mind why it's there. Of course, if it's for someone, then there is an added benefit. The perfect words to express something are often very hard to find, so allowing a tulips bouquet to speak for you is a great alternative.
