Tips in Growing Miniature Roses

Sometimes, we love to grow plants smaller than their usual size like the miniature roses. They are the same beautiful regular sized rose plant; however, they are just made to grow a little bit smaller. Growing miniature roses can be done outdoors or inside a shelter. They also come in different colors such as red, white and pink just like the normal roses. Below are tips that are useful when growing a smaller version of roses.
1. Potting is a popular way of growing miniature roses. Choose where you plant the roses. A good size to start would be a 6 inches pot and plant them there if you are planning to grow them indoors. If you want to plant them outside, just plant them in your garden. You should use potting soil and you should combine it with peat moss. Doing this will make the soil loose. Loose soil helps in providing proper air circulation and it is also good for growing tiny roses faster.
2. Your outdoor miniature roses should be kept under the sunlight. If your roses are indoors, place them under fluorescent lights. Make sure that the light bulb is above the plants at about 4 inches. The roses need to receive light for at least 8 hours per day for them to bloom more.
3. In growing miniature roses, you should make sure that you water them every other day. Do not water them too much, over watering won't help your roses grow. If you are experiencing a dry indoor air, it is best for you to add a pebble tray. Remember to put a watered pebble tray under your pots for your plants to go through dry air.
4. If you want to prevent pests from infesting your miniature roses, you should rinse the leaves. In rinsing, you should rinse the top portion and undersides.
5. Remember to treat these tiny roses the same way as you treat normal sized roses. What normal roses need, so do miniature roses.
6. When you try to kill pests, avoid using chemical pesticides especially if you are growing them indoors. Chemicals are harmful to all creatures on the roses, regardless of whether the creatures like insects are harmful or beneficial. Also, chemicals can pose a threat to human health. Chemical pesticides are often associated with lung and skin problems when this comes in contact with humans through inhalation or skin spills.
Reminders:
1. The use of the pebble tray protects the soil by supporting it. What the tray does is that, when the water starts evaporating from the soil, it adds back up humidity to the roses between every watering.
2. Do not over water your little roses. In growing miniature roses, watering too much is not recommended. Drowning the roses will kill them. Mildew and fungus can be caused by too much water and are very damaging to the plants.
Growing miniature roses are a lot fun. Patience is a very important aspect in this venture. Just patiently do all the tips and reminders written above and you'll find it easy to grow these tiny roses in either your backyard or inside your house. Like they say, even little things can pack a punch.
